Azimio leader Raila Odinga to attend Friday burial in Kisii as Machogu hosts Ruto for homecoming

Azimio leader Raila Odinga will Friday be in Kisii to attend at burial even as he ups pressure on President William Ruto to act on galloping inflation .

ODM party Kisii branch executive Kerosi Ondieki said Odinga’s visit is not linked to the ongoing anti government protests.

“For now he is coming to mourn the death of a supporter he dearly cherished,” Ondieki said..

Ondieki said the residents would join Odinga in the protests from next week.

“Today he only communicated his intention to be here for the burial of the mother of Jackson Ontegi, former Kisii branch ODM branch executive at their Keumbu home in Nyaribari Chache,” he said.

Odinga’s visit to Kisii comes in the backdrop of growing protests against President William Ruto who he accuses of failing to bring down the cost of living.

His visit coincides with the three day tour of the president to Gusii to inspect development projects.

In Kisii the president on toured Nyaribari Chache where he commissioned the Sh 1.6 billion Kegati water project funded by the Germany Bank.

Ruto will be in Gesusu Friday, a short distance away from Keumbu, where he will be hosted by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu for a home coming.

On Wednesday, Odinga spoke of an alleged attempt on his life following raucous protests in the Capital Nairobi on Monday.

He however said the protests would now be done twice a week due to ‘public demand’.

During a press conference Tuesday, he announced a boycott on certain product as he stepped up the onslaught.

In Kisii, Ruto told Odinga to go slow on the protests to give him breather to do development.
