Eight family members admitted at MTRH in Eldoret following accident that killed 6 others

Eight family members are admitted at the Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret following an accident in which six others died along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

The accident occurred on Monday evening.

The accident occured at at Mumberss along the busy highway.

The matatu they were travelling in towards Eldoret collided head on with a lorry that was heading to Nakuru.

CEO of the hospital Dr Phillip Kirwa says those admitted include four who were in critical situation.

“They all have multiple fractures and some of them will be taken for surgery”, said Dr Kirwa.

Chief for Mumberes area Nicholas Rotich said the matatu involved in the accident was carrying mourners who were headed for a funeral in Kakamega County.

“It seems the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle leading to the head on crash”, said Rotich.

This comes amid rising fatalities in road accidents in the country within the last three months.

CS for transport Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that the government will introduce new traffic regulations in a bid to curb road carnage.
