Eric Agola Lugalia: The Rogue Pilot Behind the Sh250M Land Fraud Scandal

Pilot Eric Agola Lugalia during hearing of a Sh250M land scandal case

A Kenyan pilot, Eric Agola Lugalia, has confessed in court to committing fraud related to a Sh250 million land dispute in Karen.

Initially charged with forging documents to claim the property, Lugalia admitted his guilt and agreed to compensate the victim, Stuart Gerald Cullinan Herd, in order to have the case dismissed.

The court documents reveal that the disputed land, located along Bogani Road, spans 1.970 hectares and is valued at Sh250 million. Lugalia was accused of creating a false land title dated August 2, 2005, which he presented as a legitimate certificate issued by the Ministry of Lands.

Additionally, he faced charges for forging a sale agreement that falsely appeared to be signed by Jonathan Kipkemboi Toroitich, the late son of former President Daniel Arap Moi.

Although Lugalia initially denied the charges when he appeared in court, he later changed his plea to guilty after settling with the victim, prompting the prosecution to withdraw the case.

During the proceedings, he was granted a cash bail of Sh150,000 by Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe, who scheduled a mention for July 30.

Despite his lawyers’ request to prevent media coverage of the case, the court denied this motion.
