Fearing to be killed by white people. livestock dealer commits suicide

A 45-year-old livestock dealer in Kyuso sub county of Kitui county who was allegedly sought by white people who wanted to kill on committed suicide on Sunday before his enemies caught up with him.

 

Kyuso sub county police commander Nicholas Mutua confirmed that the late Munyoki hanged himself on truss of his house late on Sunday at Malembwani village, Tulanduli sublocation in Mwingi North.

 

Family members said the lifeless body of the deceased was found dangling with a rope around the neck.

 

 Three days earlier a family source said, he had taken poison in an initial suicide attempt but was rushed to a private clinic at Kamuwongo market where his life was saved.

 

Mutua said on Sunday, the Munyoki asked his two nieces to lock him in the house from outside as the girls played outside as he felt sleepy and was craving for nap.

 

He said earlier on Sunday, Munyoki had called his brother Kyalo Kilonzo and complained that people who were white were seeking to kill him.

 

But when Kyalo consulted with another brother it was agreed they should visit Munyoki only to find his body hanging from a rope in his house.

 

The Kyuso police chief said after the report was relayed to them at around 6.45 pm police officers and the Director of Criminal Investigations officers from Kyuso Police Station visited the scene.

 

The officers found the body of the deceased was hanging with a rope round the neck from the truss of his house.

Mutua said that the deceased died before he was reached by his brothers to elaborate the allegation of the two white people who wanted to kill him and for what reason.

 

Mutua said the.police were investigating the mysterious suicide as the deceased did not leave any suicide note.

 

He added that the body was then removed to Kyuso Sub County Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
