Harriet Mary Wabwire impersonated the Director of OTD Group Limited, asserting her ability to supply aluminium alloys.
To establish credibility with her target, she produced falsified documents, which included a bogus bill of lading and a counterfeit certificate of conformity from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
She claimed that a shipment of 23,890 kilograms of aluminium alloys was packed in a 40-foot container, destined for transport from Mombasa to Ningbo, China.
After the victim transferred a significant sum of money into her bank account, Wabwire vanished, turning off her phone and evading contact. However, following extensive investigations and forensic tracking efforts, law enforcement officials located her in a hideout in Tassia, where she was subsequently arrested. She is now in custody, awaiting her arraignment.
