Police Search For Suspect Behind Sale Of Illicit Brew In Kericho

Police in Kericho have launched a manhunt for a man believed to be behind the sale of illicit brew.

Kericho County police commander Rico Ngare said the suspect produces second generation liquor at Keongo area in the outskirts of Kericho town.

“We found a distillery inside the compound of the suspect. It was disguised as a dairy shed. He has been operating it for the last three months,” police said.

Police netted 250 drums containing ethanol, rolls of fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps among other assorted brewing equipment.

Several cartons of fake liquor were also confiscated after they were found in stores within the compound.

“The suspect escaped the police dragnet but we are following leads in order to arrest him,” the officers added.
