President William Ruto has signed into law two key bills designed to bolster Kenya’s financial sector: the Insurance Professionals Bill and the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The new Insurance Professionals Act sets higher standards for industry players by enforcing strict qualifications, licensing procedures, and disciplinary action against misconduct. The law aims to eliminate unqualified practitioners, restore public confidence, and align Kenya’s insurance industry with international best practices. It marks a major step toward professionalising the sector and ensuring greater accountability across the board.
