Chebukati Shares Rare Photo Of Himself Smiling; Kenyans React

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati has resurfaced after keeping a low profile since last year’s General Election.

Chebukati left office in January after overseeing the August 2022 polls that saw William Ruto emerge as the winner amid contention from his main competitor Raila Odinga, who alleged electoral fraud.

And on Sunday, the 61-year-old former IEBC chair posted a rare photo of himself smiling, captioned “Laughter transcends generations.”

In the photo, shared on the X platform, formerly Twitter, Chebukati is seen smiling alongside his father who is also laughing.

Kenyans were quick to chime in under the post had it amassed over 150 reposts and nearly 300 comments within three hours of publication.

Chebukati exited alongside commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu following the lapse of their 6-year tenure on January 17.
