Govt appoints Dr Peter Kirwa to act as CEO at Moi Referral Hospital as Dr Aruasa’s tenure ends.

Peter Kirwa has been appointed to be acting CEO of the Moi Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.

He takes over from Dr Wilson Kipkirui Aruasa whose tenure has ended after serving for 10 years at the helm

Dr Aruasa has confirmed his exit and Dr Kirwa is expected to take over as from December 18th 2023.

Dr Aruasa is widely credited with far reaching reforms at the hospital which is a national referral facility.

“I’m finishing my tenure and tour of duty as CEO, MTRH. I’m very happy with the real transformation achieved- infrastructural developments, positive staff culture and attitudes, efficiency and high level performance”, said Dr Aruasa.

As CEO he ensured a good working relationshop with all stakeholders , proactive and empathetic/compassionate patient care that is family-centred, ethical leadership, working well with the community, adopting technology & risk-based management.

He said the hospital was an Institution that embraces continual improvement & continuous learning, a responsive Institution with quality at the core of our operations , and many more.

“We thank God for all these achievements and will in any way possible support MTRH team to always be tops”‘, said Dr Aruasa in his final message to staff and clients of the hospital.

Staff of the hospital led by union officials thanked Dr. Wilson Aruasa for the many strides and achievements made since he took over the mantle.

“He has urged us not drop the ball but sustain the momentum and keep focusing on the betterment of our institution”, said a staff union official.

The hospital board has started a selection process for the substantive CEO .

This interested in the position have been advised to visit MTRH website and apply for the job.

Dr Aruasa is described by many as being passionate about delivery of quality service at the hospital.

His last event was leading a walk through Eldoret town to sensitize the public on GBV.

Sources indicate that Dr Aruasa may be appointed to another position in the ministry of health.
