A public servant cum Conman as n Bernard Gitonga Rukunga was charged with committing the offence on Diverse dates between July 3, 2020 and April 13, 2021 at Nairobi within Nairobi County.
The court heard that the accused person defrauded Lydia Kioo the said amount by pretending that he was in a position to help her get a multi-million Government tender.
He denied the charges before Milimani Magistrate Susan Shitumbi and pleaded for a lenient bond terms.
His lawyer had requested the court to release him on sh 500,000 cash bail but the magistrate granted him a cash bail of Sh1million with an alternative cash bail of Sh2Million.
The lawyer faulted the magistrate for granting the accused person the Sh1million bond.
” Your honor such rulings will prevent you for Judge promotion” he said.
The case will be mentioned later this month for a pre-trial
