Ex-Kirinyaga Women rep Purity Girici elected to chair Kenya Seed Company board.

Former Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Wangui Girici is the new board chair of Kenya Seed Company (KSC).

Girici was elected by the directors to chair the board boss replacing Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) Managing Director Mohammed Bulle who has been serving on acting capacity.

“I am happy for the honour bestowed on me by board members and pledge to work with all stakeholders for the benefit of farmers in our country and other regions we serve” , she said.

She said the seed firm was a vital institution in helping to achieve President William Ruto’s plan on food security in the country.

Other new directors in the board include Eliud Kipchirchir Tum, son of former MD of KSC the late Nathaniel Tum, Job Ndemo and Benard Wambwa.

The government recently made changes at the seed producer elevating Sammy Chepsiror to the Managing Director position.

Chepsiror who succeed Fred Oloibe has been a long serving staff at the company.

Oloibe was deployed back to the ministry of Agriculture as advisor to the CS.

Until his promotion, Chepsiror served as sales and marketing manager.
Kipchirchir before being picked as director, he served as manager at Kibos in Tanzania which is a subsidiary of Kenya Seed Company.

Wambwa was United Democratic Alliance UDA’s candidate for Saboti parliamentary seat.

Girici pledged to ensure availability of adequate and high yielding seed for local farmers.

Girici said the company would strive to upscale production to boost the country’s food security.
