EXPOSED: How Court Officials Are A Hindrance to the War On Poaching

The sustained war on poaching of endangered species  like Rhino, Elephants among others seem to be hitting new obstacles following new revelations of Kenyan judicial officers being involved in aiding known poachers and using corrupt means to evade justice.

For instance several case studies proves our investigations Exposé but let us check at one.

In a matter coming up for mention scheduled to take place on April 18th, a Kibera  Court official, Mr.Arthur Kisia Mukira is reported to have been found to have in his possession 79 pieces of cut elephant tusks weighing 62 kgs in three sacks.

Kisia, a court official and another co-accused, Joseph Soteh Gwini, are said to have been using a red Boxer motorcycle to transport the cut elephant tusks when they were arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service officers in the area of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, along the Nairobi Eastern bypass.

The impediment in this war is the laxity by the judiciary and its head, led by the Chief Justice Martha Koome in not reigning on rogue officials within the institution.

Mukira is still working with the Judiciary despite him facing the charges and experts warns that he may interfere with the case.

” He need to have been suspended pending hearing and determination of the case but he is still active in the service, this infact because of corruption,” said Kevin Kabuya, a lega advice.

In  the case at the Kahawa Law  courts before Hon. Kiage Oenga, even after the prosecution presenting a case in court, the judiciary is yet to suspend or take discplinary action against Mr. Kisia, who is still serving at the Kibera station.

Officials in the entire wheel of justice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Judiciary itself are awefully complicit in aiding and mangling of cases leading to mis-prosecution and some times even poachers being set free.
