Kenya swimming federation kiambu county branch staged its 12th and last Championship of the
20222/2023 season where atleast 213 participants from 14 teams from Nairobi, Muranga,machakos and
Kiambu participated.
The event saw some Internation schools like; Crawford International School, Woodcreek International
School, Riara International School and Oswal Academy participating.
In addition, local Private Schools that particated in the championships were; Kiota School, while several clubs including Hydrofit swimming club from Ruiru,Condor Swimming club from Thika ,Sea Horses from Machakos ,Aqua warriors from Ruiru among others took part , public schools were represented by Mugumo Ini primary School from level 9,
Speaking during the event, Stanley Kaberu, the Governor of Kenya Swimming Federation said that the federation has ordered a starter horn from the united States Of America worth Sh 339,958 .
The equipment will arrive on time for the start of the new season which which will run between Septermber 2023 to August 2024. The gadget will help in Minimizing falls starts, aids the deaf by producing a lightening light and also aids the blind to start on time by hearing the sound.
The governor also promised to purchase touch pads at a cost of Ksh.600,000 by the end of next season which will be connected to the starter horn.
This will eliminate the need for time keepers and also improve accuracy in timing for the swimmers.
The Treasurer Kenya Swimming Federation Kiambu County Irene Kerubo said that the branch purchased a public address system, Laptop, twenty stop watches, reflector jackets, printer all at a
cost of Ksh.316,500. All this Equipments have been secured through gate collection and
participation fees during our galas.
Ms.Jenny Coetzee Crawford International Schools Managing Director said that the school will patner with Kiambu county swimming branch for effective nurturing of talents.
” Our institution will work with the County government for effective nurturing of talents,” she said.
Further more, parents from Sea horses swimming club in Nairobi , Kiambu and Machakos
pledged to donate swimming wear, swimming aids and their children to have a joint swimming
session with children from Mugumo-ini primary school.
The following are the final results of the competition;
In the Girls events Sea Horses Aquatics center emerged the winners with 321 points and the First runners
up were Water warriors with 119 points, second runners up were Wood Creek School with
86 points.
In the boys category, Sea Horses Aquatic center who emerged in first
position with 382 points . Montessori Learning center and wood creek International school tied
in second position with 59 points respectively while Crawford international school relaxed at the
fourth position with 54 points.
Melissa Alala from Sea Horses won a gold medal in the girls 8-9yrs 50 meters backstroke,
Merlyne Kendi from Premier Swim Club got a bronze while Alisha Delanie Imani
fromWoodcreek School scooped a silver medal.
In the 6 yrs old boys 25metres category.
Category in 25 metrs, Sanay Shah from Montessori learning center was in first position, Zion Kelly from Sea horses aquatics
came in second while Michael Mwangi from Otters swim club closed the medal bracket in third position.
Following the successful season, KSF – Kiambu shall have an awards Dinner and
the Annual General Meeting during the month of July on dates and venues to be communicated .
