Kisumu kidnappee arrested as police rescues two minors in Kisumu

A suspect is being held by police in Holo, Kisumu West sub-county, on suspicion of kidnapping two minors, one of whom went missing from Kisii County last month.

The suspect was apprehended last evening at a burial ceremony with the two minors after mourners who noticed him raised the alarm.

Chief Mary Andhoga of West Kisumu location says both minors, aged 7 and 8, have been positively identified.

She claims that the mother of the missing 7-year-old minor from Kisii arrived at Holo police station last night and positively identified her grade-one daughter.

According to Chief Andhoga, they have also established that the other minor was abducted from Chabera in Homabay County, and they have already contacted administrators in the area who have acknowledged receiving reports of her disappearance.

She claims that locals who identified the suspect at the burial ceremony confirmed that he was seen with the minors pretending to be stranded at the Obambo market center.

According to Chief Andhoga, the suspect pretended to be stranded with the children two weeks ago and began begging unsuspecting members of the public for transportation to Homa Bay County.

She claims that one of the female traders who assisted in raising the fare spotted him at the burial yesterday and notified administrators.
