Suspect in Kilifi employee murder arrested

The suspect for the murder of Kilifi county chief officer for fisheries and blue economy Rahab Karisa has been arrested.

Kilifi County Criminal Investigation Officer David Siele confirmed that Diana Naliaka, 21 who was Karisa’s house help was arrested on Tuesday in Bungoma County.

She was arrested at around 4pm along a footpath near Misikhu market in Bungoma East Sub-county.

Her arrest follows concerted efforts by officers from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau(CRIB), DCI officers from Kilifi and the Western regional Criminal Investigation office.

According to a report from the DCI, Naliaka was arrested carrying her bag which had her belongings on her way to cross the border to Uganda.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect took refuge in her friend’s rented house in Webuye town after escaping from Kilifi town. It’s the friend that offered her clothes to change and food,” read the report.

The suspect later bought some foodstuffs for her mother whom she met briefly before leaving for an unknown destination.

Naliaka was born in Namarambi in Bungoma county.

She has no registered identity card and has been using her aunt Sarah Nekesa.
After the arrest she was escorted to Kilifi and grilled for over five hours by DCI officers and will be arraigned in court to face murder charges on Thursday.
Naliaka allegedly murdered her boss on 29th July in Mnarani after a disagreement.
Karisa will be laid to rest on Saturday in Vihiga County
