Ten pupils nurse bee injuries in Kisii

At least 10 lower graders at Kari Primary in Kisii are receiving emergency treatment after an ugly encounter with bees Wednesday morning .

The incident occured during break time, a teacher said .

By press time, they were still being attended to at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The children had were said to had strayed into thickets near the school where they were out playing.

“It appears they had slipped out of school compound and were playing when they were stung,” the teacher said.

They (the learners) were only found running back to the school with bees keeping chase, the teacher said.

“In fact we are yet to locate where the swarm is, teachers are trying to undertake a search,” he said.

A phone call to the school headteacher went unanswered.
