Kajiado court releases suspect linked to wildlife trophies worth Sh3.6M on Sh 400,000 bond

A suspected poacher accused of possessing seven Elephant tusks weighing 0.5kg and which are approximated to be worth Sh3.5million has been released on Sh 400,000 bond with an alternative Cash bail of Sh 200,000.

While granting Mr.Joel Kimorosh Mosinko the said bond terms, the magistrate noted that he was guided by a probation report that was filed in court by the probation officer.

” Having gone through the probation report filed before me, the accused person is hereby granted a bond of Sh 400,000 with an alternative cah bail of Sh 200,000,” Senior Principal Magistrate Joseph Karanja.

The accused person alledgly committed the offence on March 26 at around 2300 hours at a shopping centre opposite to blue Sky Petrol Station within Kajiado County.

In court his efforts to have the bond terms lowered further were blocked after the magistrate told him off the the bond terms were lenient.

The matter will be mentioned on April 24 for a pre-trial where a hearing date will be fixed.
